Explore Chiapas to the Maximum wiht this Self-Guided Travel Itinerary
Travel Designer Review:
The archaeological site of Palenque has, for many, the most impressive ruins in all of Mexico. Even more so than Chichen Itza, which was declared one of the wonders of the world!
Visiting the ruins lasts approximately 3 hours. It is a spacious place with much to see. Not only are the pyramids impressive to observe, but the ambiance is also incredible. The ruins are surrounded by jungle and animals. If you're lucky, you may be able to hear the howler monkey roaring in the treetops like a lion.
The entrance fee to the ruins is approximately 80 pesos per person. The visiting hours are from 8 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon (updated hours at: https://www.inah.gob.mx/zonas/163-zona-arqueologica-palenque).
There are tour guides at the entrance who offer their services. If you want more information, visit the guide Preparing your Visit to Palenque.
It's time to go back home. Most likely your flight will depart from Villahermosa.
On the way, you will find the archaeological site of La Venta. You can plan a visit on the way if you have time. But first, check the site's schedule and if it will be open.
If you rented a car, remember that you have to return it and that will take some time. Be cautious not to miss your flight.
If you didn't rent a car, there are options to go by bus with ADO or OCC. The problem is that the transfer is not very comfortable and it gets crowded, so make your reservation in advance. The other more comfortable option is to take a taxi, which costs approximately 1200 MXN.
Thank you for following this itinerary. I hope it was an incredible trip.

The following suggested activities and notes are not included in the reservation of this itinerary. The Travel Designer included them so that you can optionally do them on your own during your trip.
Do you want to discover Chiapas in depth? This tour is one of the most comprehensive that you can do in Chiapas. Each day, we will make the most of our time so you can see as much as possible.
During the first few days, we will dedicate our time to exploring Tuxtla Gutierrez and El Aguacero, one of the lesser-known natural attractions near Tuxtla Gutierrez. Of course, we will also visit the Sumidero Canyon.
Afterwards, we will go to San Cristobal, using it as a base to visit indigenous communities, as well as the El Chiflon waterfall and the Montebello Lakes.
After seeing these wonderful places, we will head north to visit Agua Azul, Palenque, and Misol-ha. This area of Chiapas is also incredible.
Lastly, we will stay in the city of Palenque for a few days in order to visit Yaxchilan and Bonampak. These are some of the most incredible ruins in all of Mexico, as they are submerged in the jungle.
All activities on the itinerary are suggestions and are not included in the cost if you choose to make a reservation. The only thing included are the hotels that I recommend. I carefully selected these hotels. They are hotels that I know, are of quality, comfortable, and have very good reviews. If you make a reservation for this itinerary, I will provide you with additional tips to enhance your trip.
