Arriving at Copenhagen Airport: Easy and Fast Options

How to Get to Copenhagen Airport: Easy and Fast Options

Copenhagen is known for its excellent transportation system, making getting to Copenhagen Airport (Kastrup) a simple and hassle-free process. The airport is located just 8 kilometers southeast of the city center and offers several convenient options for travelers. Below, we explain the best ways to get to the airport so you can choose the one that suits you best.

1. By Train: The Fastest and Most Common Way

Taking the train is the fastest and most popular option for getting to the airport. Trains depart from Copenhagen Central Station (København H) and take you directly to the airport station in approximately 15 minutes. Trains are frequent, running every 10 to 20 minutes, and tickets can be purchased at the station's ticket machines or online. This is a comfortable and efficient method, especially if you have light luggage.

2. By Metro: Direct Connection to the Airport

Copenhagen Metro is another excellent option for getting to the airport. Line M2 (yellow line) connects the city center with the airport in approximately 15 minutes. Metro trains are modern, punctual, and operate 24 hours a day, with high frequency during both day and night. Central stations like Kongens Nytorv or Nørreport will take you directly to the airport without any transfers.

3. By Bus: An Economical Alternative

If you prefer a more economical option, the bus will also take you to the airport conveniently. Bus 5C operates from downtown Copenhagen and other key areas of the city, taking passengers directly to the airport. The journey takes around 35 minutes, depending on traffic, and is a good choice if you want to travel at a lower cost.

4. By Taxi or Private Transfer: The Most Convenient Option

For those seeking comfort, taxis are available 24 hours and will take you to the airport in approximately 20 minutes, depending on traffic. This is the most comfortable option if you have a lot of luggage or prefer a more private trip. The cost of a taxi from the city center is usually around 250-300 DKK. You can also book a private transfer in advance to ensure someone is waiting for you at your departure time.

5. By Bike: For the Adventurous Ones

Copenhagen is an extremely bike-friendly city, and getting to the airport by bike is totally possible if you're feeling adventurous and don't have too much luggage. The airport has bike parking areas and is connected by bike lanes from the city center. It's an eco-friendly and enjoyable option for bike enthusiasts.

Getting to Copenhagen Airport is simple and efficient thanks to the wide variety of transportation options available. Whether by train, metro, bus, taxi, or even by bike, you can find the way that best suits your needs and enjoy a comfortable and stress-free transfer to your flight.
